Welcome to the Hispanic Fiesta

Welcome to the Hispanic Fiesta

Today on TedReviews, we are going to have a look at SpanishDict, a free learner-directed website
that allows even busy students like us to take learning a foreign language into our own hands.
Spanish has gradually become increasingly popular, and hence important, language over the
past decades. Nowadays, as undergraduates, it is important to not only be bilingual;
being trilingual gives us a pivotal edge over others when competing in the job market.
Moreover, mastering the Spanish language opens up a whole new world of literature,
culinary delights and holiday ideas. Although it may seem to be a tedious task at first,
with SpanishDict, anyone can learn Spanish at ease and comfort, WITHOUT FREEMIUM.

A Closer Look Inside

For those of you who are already studying Spanish, a few quick browses would make SpanishDict the obvious choice. Otherwise, this blog will run you through the basics and guide you through how to maximize gains from this superb site.

SpanishDict Welcome Page

SpanishDict is so much more than just a free Spanish Dictionary! Having survived all 6 levels of the CUHK Spanish Course by just using SpanishDict, I feel the need for sharing this awesome site with you all.

I WANT TO LEARN!

Awesome Features! All for F-R-E-E!!
Okay! So you have stayed with me so far. You might want to ask, what else can I do on SpanishDict apart from looking up words? Here's the list of the main features. I won't bore you with the exhaustive list of less important ones.

Translation

The SpanishDict Translation Icon

This is a basic tool that every foreign language learning website should have, but even so, SpanishDict stands out from the crowd.  Example

SpanishDict (Left) WordReference (Right)

Not only does SpanishDict boast a more colorful interface, but the explanations and uses are also so much clearer! WordReference should really revamp their design!

Additionally, you get what you need faster at first glance. The translation is in ~BLUE~.

Conjugation
The SpanishDict Conjugation Icon

Learning Spanish is so much more than just knowing the words and as a learner, I understand the blood, sweat, toil, and tears that you may be going through with remembering the 6 verb conjugations for e-v-e-r-y  s-i-n-g-l-e verb.

Okay.... Honestly... You're Not Gonna Pick WF right?
I don't mean to belittle WF, but the display and layout is just off-putting. Especially for those of us who are pulling off all-nighters (two in a row anyone? post a comment below)

Conjugation is especially important in mastering Spanish and there is simply no other sources to get your daily doses of conjugation as conveniently as from SpanishDict.

To Go the Extra Mile (or Click)

Pizza and Ice-Cream? Oh... Oops... Vocab and Grammar *Blink Blink*
I suppose I have to admit, though I really rarely do, that I am not one of those extra hardworking students in my cohort. But for those who are, or those who are really intrinsically motivated, these are the two tools for you.

Everything is Vibrant and Colourful.
Just like how learning should be....
R...ight...?

Who doesn't fancy Grammar Articles?
I have them for breakfast!
(see that quiz button below? NOT A "QUIS")

Isn't it Perfect?

Well.... I'm sorry to disappoint on this one. Nothing is perfect, and neither is SpanishDict.

There are some limitations on SpanishDict.

1. It doesn't do your homework for you.

Please don't do this... Your teacher would know.
No, you can't dump your essay on SpanishDict and expect a UNIVERSITY grade translation. I've tried this before. There. I confess.

2. It doesn't support Chinese or any other language apart from English.

If at this point you decide to claim that you only know Italian and are trying to learn Spanish.. =_= Then you might want to go for WordReference.

I have to admit, hats off to WF for the list of other languages you can choose from.

3. There aren't video courses anymore, but you can go for audio!

There used to be video courses. Click here: SpanishDict Video Courses.

But now, that's history. Only us old-timers would know of.

I know what you're thinking... ...
(but hey.. this is 2008 stuff)
Now... Audio is your best friend.

To Wrap Up:

Thank you so much for reading this article! I honestly, seriously, cordially and whole-heartedly recommend SpanishDict to those who are planning or trying to learn Spanish. It makes such a huge difference!

What about DuoLingo and Babbel? We're all tired of Freemium right? Go for SpanishDict first, you won't regret it.
